Baptisms, weddings and funerals
Our churches are here to help you at these special times in your life. Services for baptisms and funerals can be held in any of our churches. Weddings can be held at Holy Trinity, St James, St Michael and All Angels and St Peter’s.
Baptism
In baptism, you as parents are thanking God for his gift of life, deciding to start your child on the journey of faith and asking for the Church’s support. Teenagers and adults who have not been baptized as a child may also be baptized as a sign of their entry into the Christian faith. For more information, visit the Church of England website. Baptisms take place on the first Sunday of the month, except in Lent and Advent. They take place in the main morning service. If you would like to arrange a baptism, please contact the Vicar responsible for the church where you would like the service.
Weddings
If you are considering a church wedding, we would love to help you create a service which is meaningful and personal to you. To arrange a wedding, please contact the Vicar responsible for the church where you would like the service. Further information and guidance on the marriage service itself is also available from the Church of England website.
Funerals
A funeral gives an opportunity for friends and family to express their grief, to give thanks for the life which has now completed its journey in this world and to commend the person into God’s keeping. If you would like to hold a funeral service in one of our churches, let your Funeral Director know and they can make the arrangements for you. Or if you would like to talk to one of the clergy, please contact the Vicar responsible for the church where you would like the service. For more information visit the Church of England website.
